President Lincoln’s Cottage in modern day Washington D.C. is situated on the grounds of the Armed Forced Retirement Home, commonly referred to as the Old Soldier’s Home.
What is President Lincoln’s Cottage?
This cottage is where President Abraham Lincoln and his shrinking family resided for a quarter of his presidency.
Prior to the start of the Civil War (1856-1865), the Lincoln Family intended to use this cottage as a summer residence because during the mid-1800s its location was considered to be a countrified area near to the capital.
